The 2015 storm chase season — and my 18th year chasing storms on the Great Plains — is underway. And I moved to Texas.

After 17 years of chasing from the High Plains of Colorado, I am now southeast of the majority of chaseable severe weather setups. I moved to begin a new career, but the proximity to the southern plains is an added bonus. I’m now roughly equidistant from Amarillo, Wichita, and Lubbock. I have no doubt I’ll miss the High Plains, but new opportunities exist to chase areas — and bigger storms — previous accessible only with a multi-day commitment.
